Discover Svalbard is a Family business owned by Tarjei Våtvik, Daiane Freitas and Silje Våtvik.

Tarjei is borned and raised in Longyearbyen. And Silje was not born on Svalbard, but has also lived her whole life in Longyearbyen. So they are both as local as one can get around here.

These two have good knowledge about Svalbard, specially when it comes to snowmobiling, hunting and dog sledding , and both have worked within tourism most of their life.

Both their parents came to Svalbard in the 70`s , and still lives on Svalbard . They own Svalbard Villmarkssenter AS, also a tourism company, today based only on dog sledding tours and expeditions.

Daiane is from Rio de Janeiro, and she came to Svalbard in 2008. She has been working with tourism for over 13 years here in Longyearbyen. She is Discover Svalbard`s Manager and Sales Coordinator, if you contact us, you will be talking with her.

Our main goal is to make all activities that exists on Svalbard visible for those arriving.

We collaborate with several local tour operators on Svalbard, which means that we can offer a wide range of activities – both summer and winter.

Our idea is also to simplify the work on finding what to do here. Our guests can name what they would like to do, and we will do everything in our power to make sure they get that.  Or that at least, they get the best Svalbard experience, when they leave the island, according with the possibilities. 

When our guests book their activities with us, we are their contact and support regarding these activities, and anything else that may come in their way, as for example, when it comes to changing dates or cancelling a tour. Terms and conditions here.

We also gladly help with organization and execution of logistical tasks such as transportation, research, filming, photography or minor tasks.
