The mountain is located on the south side behind town and is defined as a classic hike in the mountains around town.

The name ‘Tollsteinen’ meaning ‘troll stone’ got his name after the huge rock that stands on the highest point of the mountain ridge.

We start the hike towards the glacier ‘Larsbreen’ behind town. On our way up we take our time to explore the moraine and glacier landscape.

Once we come to the glacier we cross the glacier towards the foot of the mountain Trollsteinen. From the foot we follow the ridge of the mountain up towards the top. We eat our lunch during a proper break and enjoy being outdoors.

We recommend bringing a backpack for carrying food, drinks and equipment. You will get those things from us, but please bring a backpack and some extra warm clothes for during the breaks. Make sure you have solid hiking boots for winter conditions.

If the snow conditions demand, we use snowshoes.
