Full-Day Kayak Trip: Explore Adventfjorden
Experience Adventfjorden from the kayak as you glide silently across the water, surrounded by towering mountains rising up to 1000 meters above sea level. Kayaking allows you to get close to the elements — you hear the paddle breaking the water’s surface, feel the proximity to the sea, and may even spot a black guillemot diving beneath the water as you approach.
On calm days, the fjord reflects the surrounding landscape like a mirror, while windier days bring waves and a completely different dynamic, where you navigate the kayak in rhythm with the forces of nature.
About the Trip
We pick you up in the morning and drive to our boathouse, where you will receive your personal kayaking equipment. Before heading out onto the fjord, the guide will provide an introduction to basic paddling techniques and safety procedures.
We paddle out in stable double kayaks and set course across Adventfjorden. A direct crossing is approximately 3 km to the other side, but the route is always adapted to the weather conditions and the group’s abilities.
If conditions allow, we go ashore for a short walk to stretch our legs and enjoy the view towards Longyearbyen. The area still carries traces of Svalbard’s early settlements, and the remains of coal mining operations at Hiorthhamn tell the story of the people who once lived and worked here.
After a break, we paddle back across the fjord. Kayaking offers a unique connection to nature — a peaceful yet active way to experience Svalbard.
Join us and discover Svalbard from the sea!
