Fjord-cruise towards the Nordenskiöld glacier & Pyramiden
Arranged by Henningsen Transport & Guiding
The world’s northernmost fjord cruise with MS Billefjord
Trips start from 1 June.
Join us on an unforgettable adventure as we navigate towards Billefjorden, Pyramiden, and the magnificent Nordenskiöld Glacier.
Please note
Early in the season, this tour emphasizes the natural wonders along the dynamic ice edge in Billefjorden and the inner regions of Isfjorden, without making a stop in Pyramiden. However, this itinerary is subject to change on short notice.
Stay alert to the Arctic marvels that await, as our voyage presents numerous chances to observe extraordinary wildlife.
Look out for whales, seals, and a multitude of birds at the breathtaking bird cliffs of Diabas. If fortune favors us, we might even encounter a polar bear on the ice or near the glacier. Should conditions permit, this cruise will also feature stunning views of the Nordenskiöld Glacier.
Our experienced guide on board will captivate you with stories of Longyearbyen’s fascinating history, the expansive glaciers, and the intriguing Arctic wildlife. Additionally, you may be entertained with a charming polar tall tale or two.
Visit to Pyramiden
When Pyramiden is accessible, typically around late May or early June, a Russian guide will warmly welcome us and lead a tour through the mysterious corridors of this Arctic ghost town.
A friendly “Welcome to Russia!” sets the stage for our visit, providing insights into the deserted buildings that echo tales of a bygone era. While exploring some of these silent structures, remain vigilant for polar bears that may roam the streets of Pyramiden. Therefore, it is crucial to stay with the group for a secure and memorable experience.
On our return journey to Longyearbyen, we will pass by Skansbukta, where our guide will recount the tragic events associated with Svenskhuset, also known as The Swedish House.
We eagerly anticipate welcoming you aboard and are grateful for the opportunity to help you add a new chapter to your travel diary.
